Ryanair: 11 hours delay and no compensation

Ryanirs flight from Berlin to Stockholm 21 December was cancelled after the passengers waited several hours at the airport. The next flight was 11 hours later and Ryanair refused to pay hotel or give passengers any compensation, claiming the weather. But according to the EU regulation, it’s only in extraordinary circumstances that that the airlines doesn’t have to compensate. Snow in December in Berlin or Stockholm can’t by any means be seen as “extraordinary”…..

Ryanair’s flight FR969 could not land at Gothenburg City Airport due to fog. Instead it landed at Gothenburg Landvetter Airport, 40 km away. But Ryanair refused to transport the passengers to the other airport. It even declined passengers to transport themselfs, at their own expense, to the other airport. The plane departed from Landvetter airport empty - with all passengers stranded.

The The Swedish National Board for Consumer Complaints (ARN) has received complaints from passengers and has verdicted Ryanair to compensate the passengers for their expenses, but Ryanair refuses. Ryanair CEO says ARN are “idiots”.

Time for a consumer boycott of Rayanair? Remember there’s other alternative to the complaint ridden airline. British Airways, Scandinavian Airlines, Finnair and more…

Ryanair strikes a new record when discussing raising the price to 100 € to print the boarding card. The airlines requires everyone to check-in and print the boarding card before arriving to the airport. So visit an internet cafe and print the boarding card for 10 cents, that will save you 99,90 €. Or simply use a more friendly airline.

Sweden leads the world in science and innovation, according to a new international survey by the United Nations education, science and culture body UNESCO. Sweden ranked in first place ahead of Japan and the United States. Finland, Switzerland, the UK and Denmark were also among the top seven nations.

Sweden the most creative place in Europe

Sweden beats the US in creativity and is the most creative place in Europe, a new report by international researchers has found.

The study, conducted by Professor Richard Florida of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, finds that Nordic countries are challenging the economic power of the US and “old Europe”, and could become talent magnets for innovative immigrants. Sweden came first in the list of creative countries, followed by Finland, the Netherlands and Denmark.

Nordic countries have the potential to attract the worlds most talented workers, giving them a competitive edge and eventually spurring stronger growth, the report says.

“The key to competition in the future is who can attract creative people on a global scale,” Professor Florida told the FT.

The report measures the countries on “the three T:s” of economic growth: Talent, Technology and Tolerance. These factors indicate a country’s creative potential and bear a strong correlation to economic growth, say the authors
