There are four airports in the greater Stockholm region. Arlanda Airport (ARN) is by far the largest and most important. Arlanda has both domestic and international flights and is divided into four terminals. Getting into central Stockholm is easy from Arlanda, even though it is located 35 km from the City center. With the Arlanda Express Train you arrive comfortably at the Central station in Stockholm. The journey takes 18-20 minutes and costs 325 SEK. Look out for discounts though; they often have offers. The airport coaches, Flygbussarna, takes 35-40 minutes and costs 99 SEK. These buses makes a few stops along the way, including S:t Eriksplan, Norra Stationsgatan, Haga, Frösunda och Järva Krog. Flygbussarna also offer another route which stops at Fridhemsplan, Hornstull and Liljeholmen. A convenient alternative if either of these locations is your destination! Airshuttle is a new competitor and has coaches from Arlanda to Stockholm's Central station. There is a branch of the Commuter Trains (Pendeltåg) that haults at Arlanda airport. The journey into Stockholm's Central station takes 38 minutes and costs 125 SEK (or 75 SEK supplement if you have a regular ticket). Pendeltåget makes stops along the route at all stations. Long distance trains also stops at Arlanda airport. There are fixed priced taxis for around 450 SEK. Please check prices first though, as different taxi companies have different prices. The taxi journey takes around 35-40 minutes, depending on traffic and where you are going. Bromma Airport (BMA) is Stockholm's oldest airport and the most centrally located. In mostly have domestic routes, and a few international. From Bromma airport you can take the bus (Flygbussarna) to the Central station in Stockholm for 79 SEK. The journey takes 20 minutes. Skavsta Airport (NYO) is located 100 km south of Stockholm, close to the city of Nyköping. It is primarily used by low fares airlines like Ryanair and Wizz Air. The bus journey takes 1 hour and 15 minutes and costs 139 SEK. There are two routes: One goes to Stockholm's Central station direct. And one goes to Gullmarsplan and makes stops along the way at Västberga, Skärholmen and Södertälje Syd. Buses mostly departs in conjunction to the arrival and departures of flights. Västerås Airport (VST) is the local airport for the city of Västerås. It is located around 100 km west of Stockholm and is mostly used by Ryanair. The bus journey takes 1 hour and 15 minutes and costs 139 SEK. You arrive at Stockholm's Central station. The bus schedule is coordinated to the arrivals and departures of flights. |
